Trading continued to play a significant role in the draft on Friday night. Eight trades were reduced in the second round and another four were executed in the third round. Two of these deals led to two of the top draft generals: Malik Willis and Matt Corrall. Willis and Corral were selected after one of the biggest droughts in the draft history. Let’s take a look at the biggest trades that took place on the second day of the 2022 NFL Draft.

The Titans stop Willis’s slide

A projection of the first round, Willis was still on the board late in the third round. Willis finally heard his name shouted after the Titans traded No. 90 and No. 169 overall in the Raiders in exchange for No. 86 overall pick. Willis will now look to put pressure on the original Titans general, Ryan Tannehill, who was absent at the start of the Titans OTA. According to NFL Media, the transparency of Willis ‘draft is due to the teams’ concerns about the simplicity of the offense that Willis committed during his years at Liberty. Willis, who ran 27 impressive touchdowns in two seasons at Liberty, will try to prove that his critics are wrong in Nashville.

Carolina corral corral

Shortly after Willis saw the end of his wait, Corral was selected by the Panthers after Carolina traded No. 137 in the overall standings and a third-round pick in 2023 to the Patriots in exchange for No. 94 in the overall standings. Corral is coming to Carolina after making 49 touchdowns against 19 interceptions during his last two years at Ole Miss. Willis and Corral were two of the three generals selected Friday night. The other general, Desmond Ridder from Cincinnati, was selected by the Falcons with the 74th overall pick. The 54 selections between Ridder and the new Steelers general, Kenny Pickett, were the longest distance between the first two soldiers selected in the draft since 1975.

Packers redeem WR

After not getting a receiver on Thursday night, the Packers coped on Friday after their trades to acquire the former North Dakota executive, Christian Watson with the No. 34 in the general selection. The first selected receiver during Aaron Rodgers’s tenure at Green Bay, Watson was considered the top player still available in the draft. The 6-foot 5 receiver averaged 20.8 yards per catch during his time with the Bison.

Texans jump Crows

With Baltimore able to draft, former Alabama receiver John Metchie III was selected by the Texans, who sent three selections to Cleveland to move up to No. 44 in the overall standings. At Metchie, the Texans acquired a player who would probably be their first-round pick, if not for an ACL injury he suffered during last year’s SEC title game. Instead, the Ravens are still looking for a receiver who can replace Marquise Brown, who was traded to the Cardinals in the first round of the draft.

Metro trade

The first run back was the result of a transaction executed by the Jets and Giants. The Jets, who added more weapons to their attack after making receiver Garrett Wilson on Thursday night, sent No. 38 and No. 146 in total to the Giants in exchange for No. 36 in the overall selection. With the selection, the Jets chose Breece Hall, who rushed for 50 touchdowns while averaging 5.5 yards per transfer during his time in the state of Iowa.
