Kelsey McKay, 51, was arrested on April 12 and charged with 14 counts of sexually exploiting minors while working as a teacher and coaching high school football. The complainants are five former high school students. Since his arrest, three other complainants have appeared, saying they were abused while McKay worked at Churchill High School. The new charges are three counts of sexual assault, three counts of sexual exploitation and two counts of seduction. None of the allegations have been proven in court. All eight victims are now adults, but they were minors when they say the crimes happened. Most of the attacks on the first five complainants took place at McKay’s home, Const. said Dani McKinnon at a news conference on April 13, following McKay ‘s initial arrest. McKinnon also said on April 13 that McKay had forged relationships with students who were beyond the reach of teachers and coaches and would not be surprised if more complainants showed up after learning of his arrest. As of April 13, McKay continued to work as a tutor at the Vincent Massey Collegiate School in Pembina Trails. Pembina Trails School Superintendent Ted Franceson told parents via email April 13 that McKay had been placed on unpaid administrative leave and would not be allowed to enter the school. McKay now faces a total of 22 categories:
Eight counts of sexual assault. Seven categories of sexual exploitation. A category of sexual intervention. Six temptations.
