We have specially trained officers who support them in this difficult time. “I would like to thank the public and the media for all the help they have given us during a lengthy, complex and very moving investigation, and I would also like to thank both the collaborating services and all the police and staff involved in Katie search. “Although this is not the conclusion of these quests that any of us would like, I know that the family appreciates these efforts.” On Friday, Andrew Burfield, 50, appeared via video from HMP Preston for a brief hearing in the court charged with Ms Kenyon’s murder. Burfield, from Todmorden Road in Burnley, spoke only to confirm his identity during a seven-minute hearing at Preston Crown Court. He was remanded in custody and the trial is set for November 14.
