A 19-year-old Florida man has been arrested and charged with allegedly shooting and killing his mother at their home in Polk County this week. Seth Settle allegedly shot and killed his mother Thursday after ordering him to stop smoking cigars in his bedroom, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said, according to Fox 13 Tampa Bay. Seth Settle, 19, from Florida, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder in the death of his mother. (Polk County Sheriff’s Office) Shortly after 9:30 a.m., however, he received a call that his wife had been taken to hospital. Authorities were first notified of the incident by Settle’s 24-year-old brother, who found his mother collapsing at their Lake Wales home. Authorities did not immediately suspect illegal gambling because no blood was reportedly found in the home or no visible injuries were found on the victim’s body. But when Settle’s father picked up his daughter from school and returned home, he was informed that his wife had died. After the death of Settle’s mother was confirmed, a nurse inspected the body and found what appeared to be puncture wounds. Settle fled, but later confessed to investigators that he shot his mother. Judd said Settle claimed he was depressed and was holding a gun to his head before his mother entered his bedroom. Jade reportedly said that every indication indicated the 52-year-old mother as “the most wonderful mom in the world” and said that the family was considered good and hardworking. “The only people who are most shocked and surprised by this in law enforcement are the immediate family. The weapon is also believed to have been purchased illegally.
