Moments after he was pulled to the ground by a police officer, Morgan began violently resisting arrest – fighting on the floor with an armed police officer before being tapped. He was later found to have a large kitchen knife hidden in his jeans and was arrested. Morgan, 37, of Shelford Rise, Sneinton, had caught police attention on the night of October 16, 2020, when he was seen behind the wheel of a car linked to a theft the day before. After being spotted by a patrol car on Woodborough Street, Morgan sped away, passing many red lights in and around Nottingham city center and driving on the wrong side of the road. After driving at speeds of up to 70 miles per hour in residential areas, Morgan abandoned the car near a path in Oxbow Close, The Meadows, where he tried and failed to do so. When questioned by police, Morgan declined to comment. He later pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and possession of a blade. Appearing in Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, April 29, Morgan was sentenced to a total of 17 months in prison. PC Louise Ramsay, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “It was a horrible driving demonstration that could very well have resulted in death or serious injury. Morgan drove through a busy city center at high speed and showed absolutely no concern for the safety of other people. “It’s a testament to the ability and professionalism of the officers involved that this incident was purchased with the safe conclusion that Morgan was being held safely. “I am happy that he has now been punished and an important spell will be cast behind bars.” To read all the biggest and best stories first subscribe to read our newsletters here .
