The dog was taken to the San Gabriel Valley Humane Society for a medical examination, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. The man will be remanded in custody until investigators receive the results of this medical examination. It happened in a secluded warehouse area at 1500 block of Highland Avenue in Duarte. Residents tell ABC7 that it happened in an empty parking lot of an industrial building near Evergreen Street and Saint Dominic Avenue. Buildings are usually always closed and empty at night. The man appears to hit and slap the dog several times. The video also shows the man pulling the dog by his collar as the dog can not escape. At times, the dog tries to escape the beating, but that is when the man grabs him and hits him again. “It was just deplorable and in fact very horrible,” said a Monrovia resident who identified herself as an eyewitness only as Gina. “How can a man do that to a dog? It was unbelievable. It was an isolated batch and it was around 9pm, but the beating took place and continued for 15 minutes in the video.” Steve, who is also from Monrovia and did not want to reveal his last name, was almost in tears talking about the incident. “It’s very horrible,” he said. “We have to evolve the spiritual life on this planet. We have to realize that we are all relatives, good cousins, with all kinds and other people.” After about 15 minutes, the suspect then appears to put the dog in a car and drive away. It seems that the suspect may not have known that there were cameras that recorded the attack. This watch video was posted on the local Nextdoor app and reported to the sheriff’s section. Residents watching the video said they wanted to arrest the man. “The community is outraged and everyone wants to go and help and find this suspect,” Gina said. Investigators are investigating the incident. The penalty for an animal abuse offense can include up to one year in prison and a fine of up to $ 20,000. Copyright © 2022 KABC Television, LLC.
