There were several times in the chase where the driver stopped the car and went out to show the police and make gestures to simulate the shooting of a gun. Each time, the driver returned to the car and continued to drive at speeds not exceeding 40 mph. Several LAPD patrols were behind him as the driver, possibly suspected of assault, continued to drive and stop. The man was probably armed, according to police.
