Huntington Beach police said they arrived at the pier at about 9:45 p.m. and found the injured girl. They did not release further details about the child as she is a minor. Police say officers shot two coyotes on the beach after the attack Thursday night, according to CNN’s KABC-TV. A coyote was found dead on the beach Friday morning near PCH and Goldenwest Street, but authorities do not believe he was involved in the attack, KABC-TV added. The HBPD said it was working in coordination with the California Department of Fish and Prey to monitor the coyote. He said police injured the animal when they fired at it on Friday morning and are currently working to trap it. Once arrested, he will be euthanized, according to police. The HBPD said it has been making increased trapping efforts across the city in recent weeks and is asking the community to alert them to any coyote remarks by calling 714-960-8811.
