Companies in Germany, Switzerland, France, the United Kingdom and even the United States have reported a sharp increase in the number of customers asking how to build or buy shelters that could help them survive the consequences. “In the first weeks of March, people were really scared and wanted immediate help,” Claus Haglund of Bühler GmbH, a Swiss company that installs and repairs warehouses, told the Telegraph. He said demands for both new shelters and repairs “exploded” after the Russian invasion. In Switzerland, some residential buildings are still required to include operational bomb shelters. “Basically, they wanted to know how fast their warehouses could be used,” he added. Liliane Staub, another Bühler employee, told the Swiss news agency 20 Minutes: “Just a month ago we were smiled during raids on the shelter. Now people are knocking on our doors.” Vladimir Putin put his country’s nuclear powers on alert in March and has repeatedly threatened Western countries and NATO to intervene in Ukraine.
