The accident caused long delays and some city leaders are once again reporting a shortage of police in Durham. On Friday 15-501, a trace of disaster, which ended in tragedy. A car, which crashes vertically on the I-40, are the first to respond around the crumpled wreck. Todd Morris saw it happen. The gray car hits a black Toyota before entering the guardrail and the side. “It was a bad scene,” Morris said. “He tore it.” The car landed in the eastern lanes. Christina Deschaine drove a little later. The mother tried to shield her children from the scene. “I was like ‘do not look! Do not look!’ “Because you never want your children to see it,” Dessen said. “It’s traumatic.” Friday’s crash comes after a series of episodes at 15-501, including a rage shot just a week ago. Durham adviser Leonard Williams, while saying there was no indication that the accident was related, reiterated the need for more staffing and support for Durham police. “They are happening in my area. I am extremely worried, as are our residents,” Williams said. “We need all the hands on deck and we need them now because we have a problem now.”
