The JWST team found that its optical performance was even better than its most optimistic predictions and unanimously agreed that the telescope alignment was complete. It is now in the final stage of preparation. The scientists will calibrate and accurately test the four scientific instruments on board, which are used to interpret the light that Webb collects in images. NASA expects this process to take several months and said the Webb telescope will be fully operational in the summer.
