Image: A forensic scene was set up as police searched for Ms. Kenyon On Saturday, police revealed that the body of a woman was found Friday night in an area of the Bowland Forest, following new evidence. In a statement, Lancashire police said: “At this stage, although we are not able to officially confirm the identity of the woman, we believe that Katie’s body is. “Her family has been informed and continues to be supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts are with them right now.” An autopsy will be performed later. Image: Police searched the Gisburn forest after the disappearance of the two’s mother The Forest of Bowland is located in the Gisburn Forest area, where previous research has been conducted. More than 60 investigators from four police forces have been scanning forest areas in search of Ms Kenyon. The hunt was attended by police and firefighters, dog groups, cavalry police, mountain rescue volunteers and drones. Andrew Burfield, 50, of Burnley, was charged with Ms Kenyon’s murder and appeared in court via video link. On Tuesday, investigators said they believed Ms. Kenyon was dead. Her family said her disappearance was out of character. As the search for the site progressed earlier in the week, her sister, Sarah Kenyon, wrote on Facebook: “Now it’s a waiting game, we did what we could, we searched everywhere, we contacted everyone.”
