UPDATE: 12:40 p.m. A man robbed the Circle K convenience store on Springfield Road overnight, spraying bear spray in the process. Shortly after midnight, police say a man entered the Circle K store, which was connected to the Shell gas station on Springfield and Benvoulin streets, and developed what is believed to be bear spray. The store employee and a customer who was inside were slightly injured and were treated by rescuers. Kelowna RCMP officers were present at the scene, but the suspect left with an “unknown quantity of store merchandise,” according to Const. Solana Pare. Police remained at the scene at the store until Saturday morning, gathering evidence and searching for surveillance videos in the area. Police described the suspect as a 2-foot-tall Caucasian man with a slender body and short brown hair. He was wearing a black baseball cap, a light gray plaid shirt with buttons, jeans, black shoes and was holding a black bag. Police ask anyone with information about the robbery to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300. ORIGINAL: 7:30 a.m. Police were investigating an incident at the Shell gas station on Springfield and Benvoulin streets on Saturday morning. A police tape could be seen around the gas station pumps, closing the entrance to the store. An RCMP officer at the scene did not comment on what had happened at the gas station.
