The shooting at Ariel’s entrance on Friday night claimed the life of a guard in his twenties. The two perpetrators, whose attack was recorded by security cameras, fled. The Israeli Defense Forces said Saturday morning that an unnamed guard was killed as he shielded another guard at the gate and moved to block the entrance to the settlement. The second guard was not injured in the attack. The terrorist group was also behind the deadly attack in Bnei Brack last month. The Hamas terrorist group praised the shooting, saying it was a “heroic operation” and a “natural response to the crimes of the occupation and its settlers.” Israeli security personnel at the scene of the shooting, at the entrance of Ariel, in the West Bank, on April 30, 2022 (Flash90) Footage from security cameras at the scene of the attack on Ariel showed a blue Suzuki vehicle leading to a guard, where a person in the passenger seat opened fire. The gunman and the driver then went out and continued firing at the garrison before leaving. Ambulance service David Mag Adom said doctors had announced the man’s death at the scene. The second security guard, apparently protected by the murdered man, suffered nothing. The shooters apparently used improvised Carlo submachine guns. Ariel and other settlements in the area issued a lockout order for fear that the gunmen might attack again. Security forces cordoned off the streets as large numbers of police and soldiers launched a massive manhunt to locate the gunmen. The Israeli Defense Forces reported that special forces were involved in the search. Photo of the terrorist vehicle distributed at the manhunt. Blue Suzuki. Two terrorists. Media reports said he was killed during clashes in the area. More details were not immediately available. The attack and clashes erupted as tensions between Israel and the Palestinians escalated in recent weeks in the wake of repeated terrorist attacks in Israeli cities that left 14 dead. The escalation came in the middle of the Muslim holy month of Ramadan – often a time of high tension in Israel and the West Bank. The military has stepped up its activities in the West Bank in an effort to quell spiraling violence. The ensuing raids resulted in clashes that left at least 25 Palestinians dead, many of whom took part in the clashes, while others appeared to be non-involved civilians.
