LOS ANGELES – The owner of a Sun Valley funeral home faces multiple charges for failing to properly bury human remains. According to Los Angeles Attorney Mike Feuer, 22 criminal charges have been filed against Mark B. Allen Jr. after the unburned remains of 11 people, including infants, were found in a state of decay and mummification. The remains were found in two different cases last year. “We are fighting for justice for these families in this incredibly sad and shocking situation. Eleven people died, including very young children, and the funeral director, who was hired to compassionately prepare the bodies for burial, allegedly let them rot, without the dignity or dignity that all our loved ones deserve. “Their death is a tragedy and this alleged monstrous abuse is a second tragedy,” Foyer said. The California Cemetery and Funeral Home, the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the LAPD have launched a search of the cemetery following complaints from family members. During a press conference on Friday, Foyer said the smell was so bad that officers who arrived at the scene could spot it outside the premises. The morgue, located on San Fernando Street, has since closed. Allen faces a maximum sentence of up to $ 110,000 and up to 11 years in prison.
