SAN FRANCISCO, April 30 – Announced last fall, Apple’s self-repair program, including access to tools and spare parts, has now been released in the US for iPhone 12 and 13 owners. This program, called Self Service Repair, gives users access to tools and genuine spare parts to repair their smartphone themselves. This only applies to the latest iPhone series, namely the iPhone 12, 13 and SE (3rd generation). As part of this service, Apple provides repair manuals and genuine parts. It takes the form of a new online store, with more than 200 individual spare parts and tools, allowing customers to repair their smartphones themselves. The idea is to be able to replace the screen, battery or camera of your smartphone, without having to call a professional and above all, without having to immediately change the handset for a new one. To begin the Self Service Repair process, customers must first consult the repair manual for the product in question and then go to the Store to order the necessary accessories and tools. For some repairs, customers will also receive credit when they return a spare part for recycling. Finally, Apple will also offer a weekly tool rental kit for $ 49. This service should be available in other countries soon. In addition, later this year, the American manufacturer plans to launch the same type of service for the latest Macs equipped with Apple Silicon processors. Apple seems to be setting a new trend here, as the world’s number one smartphone seller, Samsung, has also announced a brand new self-repair program for US owners of Galaxy S20 and S21 and Galaxy Tab S7 + tablets. From this summer, based on the same model with Apple service, users will have access to genuine spare parts, as well as repair tools and smart repair guides. – ETX Studio
