The Ministry of Health reports that the latest casualties occurred in the last month.
Three of these deaths were residents of long-term care.
As of March 2020, the county has reported 12,825 virus-related deaths.
There are currently 1,676 patients with the virus receiving treatment in Ontario hospitals, three fewer than yesterday and eight more than last week.
Health officials say 44 percent of patients were admitted to hospital for COVID-19-related reasons and 56 percent were admitted for other reasons, but then tested positive for the virus.
Of those admitted, 188 are admitted to the ICU, a significant drop from 209 on Friday and from 212 a week ago.
Seventy percent of ICU patients were admitted for the virus and 30 percent were positive after admission for other reasons.
The ministry says provincial laboratories processed 16,841 tests in the last 24 hours, producing a 13.8 percent positive rate, down from 17.3 percent seven days ago.
The county has confirmed 2,799 more cases of coronavirus today, but the daily number of cases is considered underestimated due to limitations in PCR testing.
Among the most recent cases, 1,763 of the individuals have received three doses of COVID-19 vaccine, 548 have received two doses, 310 have not been fully vaccinated and 178 have an unknown vaccination status.
Yesterday the province administered 30,913 doses of vaccine.
So far, 90 percent of residents aged five and over have received one dose of COVID-19 vaccine, 86 percent have received two doses and 52 percent have received three doses.
The numbers used in this story are in the Ontario Department of Health’s Daily Epidemiological Summary COVID-19. The number of cases for any city or region may differ slightly from that reported by the province, as local units report data at different times.
