The media mogul spoke to the LA Times to link to her new documentary, “The Color of Care,” which debuts this weekend on the Smithsonian Channel … and talked a LOT about racism, health care, celebrity privileges, mask commands and what could be described as COVID amnesia … especially in relation to those who have died in the pandemic. Oprah then became personal with her own story … acknowledging that she has been given tremendous access and priority as a celebrity throughout her life. He says this is actually one of the best privileges of being famous … being able to get the best out of it whenever something goes wrong. And yet – she explains that once in the mid-2000s, she had a thyroid problem that was misdiagnosed by many doctors, who suggested that they did not want to find out what was really wrong with her for fear of her reputation. When she went to a thyroid specialist, she claims that the guy told her to “embrace hunger”, otherwise she would gain a lot of weight. Some say he’s talking about the lipophobia that pervades this country – but the big picture, O says that even the medical establishment has deep flaws … and advocates taking multiple views of people and the support system with you . On the subject of masks … Oprah says she still strongly supports wearing them, even at this point … saying that it’s too early in her mind, but that she respects those who want to lose it.
