A man has since been charged with the murder of the 33-year-old from Padilam in Burnley, and appeared in court earlier this week in connection with her disappearance.
Lancashire police confirmed this morning that police searching for Katie found the body of a woman last night (April 29) in a Forest of Bowland area – after receiving information about her whereabouts. In a statement issued this morning, Lancashire police said: “We are saddened to confirm that our search for the missing Katie Kenyon has found the body of a woman. Our police made the discovery last night (Friday, April 29) in an area of The Forest of Bowland after receiving new information about a location where Katie could be. Police are continuing their search for missing Katie Kenyon in a dense forest near Gisburn Forest, where medical examiners are seen focusing on land next to Hole House Lane (Image: James Maloney / Lancs Live) “At this stage, although we are not in a position to officially confirm the identity of the woman, we believe that Katie’s corpse belongs to her. Her family has been informed and continues to be supported by specially trained officers. Our thoughts are with them. A post-mortem examination will be conducted by the Ministry of Interior to determine the cause of death. “We would like to thank the public and the media for all the help they have given us during a lengthy, complex and very emotional investigation and we would also like to thank both the collaborating services and all the police and staff. who have been involved in Katie’s search. “While this is not the conclusion of the quest that one would wish for us, we know that the family appreciates these efforts. Once again, our thoughts today are with Katie’s family and all her loved ones.” A man appeared in the crown court yesterday (Friday, April 29) accused of killing Katie.
