Emergency services rushed home to Handsworth yesterday afternoon after reports that the baby had fallen out of a first-floor window.  It happened to a rooftop house on Wattville Road shortly after 1 p.m. 

West Midlands police said today that the baby boy was not seriously injured. They also said that the police were no longer on the property. A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “We were called to report a patient who fell from a height on Wattville Road at 1.04 p.m. “An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Midlands Air Ambulance Critical Care Car were on the scene. On arrival we discovered a male infant being treated for injuries that were not thought to be serious before being transported to Birmingham Children’s Hospital.” West Midlands police say the child suffered bruises and was taken to hospital for testing. A police spokesman said today: “The child is not believed to have been seriously injured. We no longer have police officers at the scene.” After the crash, West Midlands police closed part of the road as they conducted their search. The terrace house where it happened was blocked. A local resident, who asked not to be named, told BirminghamLive: “It was about 12.30pm. and the police came after five minutes. “There were three police cars and two ambulances and a car without a signal was first on the scene.
