Unlike Samsung’s best foldable phones, Huawei chooses a fold-out design so that the screens are always exposed. However, it also means that there are fewer screens overall and this one on the Mate Xs 2 sounds very nice. When closed, it is a 6.5-inch 120 Hz OLED screen that opens into a 7.8-inch panel with a clear resolution of 2480 × 2200. Huawei also says that the improved hinge mechanism offers improved durability and will not leave a visible aspect, although this is something we have heard many times in the past.

(Image credit: Huawei) At the back there is a 50MP triple camera setting that includes 13MP wide angle and 8MP telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. At the front there is a single 10MP camera. The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 chipset with a 4G modem. Given Huawei’s relationship with the US, the company is still unable to obtain a 5G modem from Qualcomm, so it is doing what it can. However, the Snapdragon 888 is only a generation behind the current flagship batch, so performance should continue to be maintained. The phone runs HarmonyOS 2 and, of course, there is also no Google integration. The phone is available with 8 GB RAM and 256/512 GB storage or 12 GB / 512 GB configuration. Depending on the RAM, the battery capacity is 4600mAh or 4880mAh, respectively. The device supports 66 W fast charging, so in theory it should last longer and charge faster than the Galaxy Z Fold 3. And like the Z Fold 3, it supports stylus input with Huawei M-Pen 2s. Overall, this sounds like a nice upgrade over the Huawei Mate Xs. The Mate Xs 2 is available for purchase in China at the moment and starts at 99 9999 περίπου or just over $ 1500. It is not clear if it will be offered outside China.
