Investigators from the Economic Crime Unit – an integrated unit that includes members of both the RCMP and the Halifax Regional Police – say that between January and November 2021, Robert Alan Monk agreed to do some home improvement work. Police say they asked for money in advance and in most cases, the money was transferred electronically. After that, police say, Monk would not carry out the work and stop communicating with customers. The 51-year-old is accused of:

Fraud under $ 5,000 (20 metrics). Possession of property acquired through crime (20 categories). Fraud over $ 5,000. Possession of property acquired through a crime over $ 5,000. Violation of the test.

According to the Nova Scotia Public Prosecutor’s Office, Monk currently has three different cases at different stages of the trial – all of which consist of multiple charges of fraud. If you suspect you have been the victim of fraud, the police advise you to report it either to the police at 902-490-5016 or to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Center.
