The 41-year-old Maple Ridge resident was known to police, according to a press release from the Lower Mainland Homicide Investigation Team. However, it is too early to say whether Comeau’s murder is related to the ongoing gang clash in Lower Mainland, police said. RCMP officers were called to 12300 Carlton Street in Maple Ridge around 2 a.m. Thursday after receiving multiple reports of gunfire. When they arrived, they found a male victim who had been shot. Despite trying to save his life, he died on the spot. “We want to speak with Mr Comeau’s friends and associates in an effort to establish a timetable for his activities in the days leading up to his death,” said a spokesman for IHIT Cpl. Sukhi Dhesi released on Saturday. Investigators are looking for witnesses, surveillance videos and cameras from the area of Carlton Street and 124 Avenue, as well as 216 Street and Dewdney Trunk Road, IHIT said, adding that they are specifically interested in videos recorded between 1:30 p.m. μ. and 2:30 p.m. The two locations are about one kilometer apart. IHIT said it is working with the Ridge Meadows RCMP, the Integrated Forensic Identification Service and the BC Coroners Service as it performs “priority tasks” in research. “We are deeply concerned when a shooting occurs in our community and we understand that this is a traumatic experience for the people who witnessed this incident,” Dhesi said. “Ridge Meadows RCMP Victim Services are available if anyone would like to speak with them and can contact them at 604-467-7650 or by email at [email protected]” Anyone with information is kindly requested to call the IHIT Advice Line at 1-877-551-4448 or email [email protected]
