The British non-profit organization Presidium Network said Paul Urey, 45, and Dylan Healy, 22, were arrested on Monday. They appear to have been arrested at a checkpoint south of the city of Zaporizhzhia in southeastern Ukraine. Putin launches ‘dangerous’ missile strike during UN chief’s trip – keep up to date Mr Urey has been described as a “family man with children” who “did not join the army”, so he decided to work in the humanitarian field and travel a lot. Urey’s family said in a statement: “My family and I are extremely concerned. We know that Paul and his friend who are volunteers for humanitarian aid in Ukraine have been arrested by the Russians. “He was out there with his will. We want everyone’s support to bring him home and pray that he is safe.” They said Mr Urey was type 1 diabetic and needed insulin. Mr Healy, meanwhile, was previously curator of a hotel chain in the United Kingdom. The Presidium Network said the couple worked as volunteers and were known to the organization but had nothing to do with them. He said the couple were working to remove a woman and two children from the area when they were arrested at a Russian military checkpoint. Mr Urey last contacted the Presidium Network at 4 a.m. Since then, they have received messages from someone claiming to be the volunteer, but who was unable to provide personal information to confirm his identity. Three hours after their arrest, the house of the woman evacuated by the couple was raided by Russian soldiers who put her husband lying on the floor and asked her how she “knew these British spies”. Dominik Byrne, one of the founders of the Presidium Network, said: “Our concern for these people is that the Russians will label them as British spies, which is untrue. “They are volunteer citizens.” Earlier, International Trade Minister Anne-Marie Trevelian told Sky News that the Foreign Office was “doing everything it can to support them”.
