€ 2 million worth of drugs were discovered during an operation carried out yesterday by gardaí and Revenue in Drogheda, Co Louth. The retrieval was found after Gardai conducted a search warrant on a house in the Drogheda area. During the search, Gardai found about 100 kilograms of cannabis worth a total of 2,000,000 euros, which was confiscated by Revenue police. Two men, aged 49 and 65, were arrested at the scene in connection with the seizure and held at Drogheda Garda station. A Garda spokesman said the seizure was part of an investigation into an organized crime group operating in the area. “As part of an ongoing investigation targeting individuals allegedly involved in an organized crime group operating in the Louth area, the Garda National Drugs & Organized Crime Bureau (GNDOCB) and the Drogheda Drug Unit conducted a joint operation with staff Customs Revenue Service today Friday 29 April 2022. “During this operation, a search was carried out at a site in the Drogheda area, while about 100 kilos of vegetable cannabis worth € 2,000,000 were confiscated by the Revenue Officers. “Two men, aged 60 and 40, were arrested at the scene. They were taken to Drogheda Garda station where they are currently being held under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act (Drug Trafficking), 1996.” “Investigations are ongoing.”
