Judge Arthur Engoron at a New York court in Manhattan said he was unhappy with Trump’s affidavit and said there was no evidence that he had conducted a thorough investigation into the files sought by New York Attorney General Letitia Jay. “I’m surprised he does not seem to have documents, it’s all with the organization,” the judge said. “I will consider your request for an end to the fine,” she told Trump’s lawyer, Alina Hampa. “But if you have no news, the clock keeps ringing.” James says her research found evidence that the Trump Agency, which manages hotels, golf courses and other real estate around the world, provided misleading financing information to banks and tax authorities in order to reap financial benefits such as soft loans and tax breaks. Trump, a Republican, has denied any wrongdoing and described the investigation as politically motivated. James is a Democrat.
