The trial between Depp and Mrs. Herd began April 11 in Fairfax, Virginia. Depp is suing his ex-wife for $ 50 million for an article he wrote in December 2018 in which he referred to as “a public figure representing domestic abuse.” Ms. Herd did not name Depp in the article, but his lawyers said the article made it difficult for him to obtain film roles. On Thursday, Depp’s bodyguard Malcolm Connolly said he accompanied the couple to Australia in 2015 when Depp cut off his finger. Mr. Depp was making the fifth film, Pirates of the Caribbean at the time. Regarding what happened at home in Australia, Herd’s lawyer said that Depp was trying to urinate “in the foyer” and “pull out his penis”. Mr Connolly was asked: “When you got home you could hear a commotion. Right?” He admitted that he heard a commotion, but only “shouted”. He said he could not distinguish the words. Ms Herd’s lawyer then told the bodyguard: “You entered the house and saw Mr Depp in the foyer. Right?” Mr. Connolly, who said yes, was then asked, “Mr. Depp was trying to urinate in the foyer, wasn’t he?” When the bodyguard said “no”, the lawyer asked: “Mr. Depp pulled out his penis, right? “I think I would have remembered if I had seen Mr. Depp’s penis,” Connelly said, causing Depp and others in court to laugh. A recording of Mr. Depp from their time in Australia was then heard on the pitch. He was heard shouting “how are you doing to me” and “you make me feel sick”. Mr Connolly confirmed that Mr Depp was angry at the time. Listening was also popular on social media. A user wrote on Twitter: “She [Ms Heard] just see … wow. “Her notebook was getting a straight line today … five sheets through … scents.” Some users also mocked the question line. “And while you were trying to get Mr. Depp out of the house, Mr. Depp was trying to get little Depp out of his house, right?” wrote a person on Twitter.
