The increase is for the fourth consecutive day the price of diesel rose. On Tuesday, the price of diesel was at least 201.7 cents in Zone 1. This means that the price has increased by 25.6 percent in four days. For the truck industry, fuel and labor are the two biggest costs, said Jean-Marc Picard, executive director of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association. He said that while truck companies are shifting fuel charges to customers, the lag between the diesel market and paying for their work is difficult to manage. “If you fill your truck four or five times a week, these increases can increase quite quickly,” Picard said. “And when you talk about a company that has 500 trucks, it’s millions of dollars.”

No change in gas prices

The price of diesel is cheaper in Zone 1 and can be about two cents per liter higher in other parts of the province. The price of gas did not change overnight.
